    Fair Grinds Coffeehouse

Fair Grinds is a fair-trade only coffee shop, near the Fairgrounds in Mid-City, that tends to draw an eclectic crowd. The space is community-minded; the upstairs is entirely dedicated to non-profit meetings and events, including yoga once a week. We love their beautiful, dog-friendly courtyard, and vegan baked goods.

    The Bean Gallery

The Bean Gallery is a coffee shop in Mid-City with lots of seating, inside and outside on their great patio. They have a trade-in library of books, including the whole Harry Potter series, and they are open late. Their sandwiches are also surprisingly good- try their caprese panini or their bagel with lox.

    Byrdie's

Byrdie's is a hidden gem on St. Claude near the Healing Center. The cafe is part coffee and tea shop, part ceramic studio where Byrdie teaches classes, and part art gallery. The barista is very friendly, and will let you pick the house music. The shop has a trade-in library of strange books, as well as a beautiful pet cat. Their daily soups and sandwiches on house-made bread are delicious, thir coffee is supplied by French Truck Coffee, their loose leaf teas come from all over the world, and their teacups are handmade in the studio. Please, keep this one on the D.L.!
